"Nothing Up Their Sleeve"
Last spring, a well known auction house offered an alleged "Game Used" Jack Lambert authentic
jersey for sale. Despite our attempts to have the item withdrawn from the auction due to it's very
suspect description and origin, the auction house refused to pull the jersey from their auction.
Instead, they cited that a third party "the authenticator" had given their blessing as they pertain
to the authenticity of the Lambert Jersey based upon a data base that was consistent with jerseys
worn by Ted Hendricks and Earl Campbell. What ?! The only thing Jack has in common with these
two former players is that they are all Hall of Famers. When we informed the auction house that Jack
NEVER EVER wore short sleeves during any NFL game, they argued that we were incorrect!
And of course, who would know more about Jack's NFL career than a "third party" memorabilia
authenticator hired and paid to provide their opinion based upon such extensive and concise
research? The sale of this "Game Used" jersey went as planned to the tune of more than $15,000.
The only difference between this sinister caper and the O.J. hotel room invasion is that
no
weapons were used. So now the same auction house has presented yet another "Game Used"
Jack Lambert jersey for auction. It too has short sleeves which as any good Lambert fan knows,
he NEVER wore. But hey, all of the "third party" authenticity documentation is included so how
can you go wrong bidding on this? Because of the seller's response last year, we have no intention
of making any effort to have the jersey removed. Instead, we shall let the buyer beware of this auction
or any similar auction in the future. Jack wants anyone interested in ever bidding on any of his
"game used" jerseys that he NEVER wore short sleeves.
No regular season, no pre-season, no playoff games or Super Bowls...NEVER!!!!
There is an exact reason behind this which
may be disclosed
someday in the future,
but for the time being,
just take his word for it.
And since Jack Lambert is the only Steeler to wear #58 since 1974, why would any #58 game jersey
have been altered for any reason? Despite all of the "experts" who claim to know an authentic game jersey
when they see one, no one has ever provided a simple explanation as to why the sleeves of an authentic
Lambert game jersey would have been cut off. Beware of self-proclaimed experts who wish to achieve
financial gain in exchange for their egomaniacal opinions. Throughout all of the appearances and
autograph signings Jack has done for more than 18 years, we have only witnessed one pair of actual
"game used" Jack Lambert shoes come through the line. Saddly, we have seen our share of "game used"
jersey, helmets and cleats either sold or given to Jack's fans as "authentic", but more than not,
the Lambert fan has been taken for a ride or swallowed some nonsensical story. If you have a
question or concern about an item, send us a photo / or description and we'll give you an honest
answer. You may not like our answer, but it certainly beats paying for someone's opinion.
